Which is the difference between Magenta, Aqua, Teal and Yellow roles

Table of Contents

The roles are used to give different permissions to the users. Users can participate to several circles and each circle has to be assigned to a role. Below we explain the difference between the 4 roles.

When Magenta role is assigned to at least one circle of a user, they will have access to everything, more specifically:

  • manage the whole administration: manage circles and users, customize the platform, change the content of the notifications and, modify the demographic options.
  • launch strategic surveys and custom surveys.
  • create custom surveys.
  • view strategic survey results in the Dashboard.
  • view strategic survey and custom survey results in history.
  • create and launch activities.

Note: users who have magenta roles normally are the administrators or HR managers, the users who have to set up the platform and have access to all the results.

When Aqua role is assigned to at least one circle of a user, the user will be able to:

  • launch strategic surveys & custom surveys.
  • create custom surveys.
  • view Dashboard results of the circles the user is aqua.
  • history:
    • view the custom surveys the user has launched.
    • view the strategic surveys launched to the circles the user is aqua.
  • create and launch activities.

Note: only assign the aqua role to the circle(s) which you want the user to see the results, for the circles you don’t want the user to see the results assign teal or yellow.

When Teal role is assigned to at least one circle of a user, the user will be able to:

  • launch custom surveys.
  • create custom surveys.
  • view the custom surveys the user has launched in History.
  • create and launch activities.

Note: as soon as you assign teal to a circle of a user, the user will have access to the above functionalities.

When Yellow role is assigned to at least one circle of a user, the user will be able to:

  • answer surveys.
  • join and unjoin activities.

Note: this is the most common role for employees who only answer surveys.

Example:

A company needs to assign the roles of 20 employees, they have the below circle structure:

The requirements of the company are:

  • User 1 is the HR manager who will set up the platform.
  • User 2 is the manager of Product and she wants to see the results of the strategic surveys launched to Product.
  • User 3 is the manager of Sales and Finance and he wants to see the results of the strategic surveys launched to Sales and Finance.
  • User 4 is a team lead of Development and she wants to launch custom surveys to her team.

Below we explain how we would assign the roles:

  • For user 1 we will assign magenta role to all the circles.
  • For user 2 we will assign aqua role to the Product circle and for the rest of the circles yellow.
  • For user 3 we will assign aqua role to the Sales and Finance circles and for the rest of the circles yellow role.
  • For user 4 we will assign teal role to the Development circle and for the rest of the circles yellow role.
  • For the rest of the users, as they don’t need any special permission, we will assign them yellow roles to all the circles.
